New call for entries for the 2025 Award for Excellence in Doctoral Supervision

Marburg University is calling for nominations of individuals who demonstrate exceptional motivation in supervising doctoral students and who strengthen the quality of doctoral supervision at Marburg University through innovative measures.
Since 2020, Marburg University has been presenting the Award for Excellent Doctoral Supervision to honor outstanding commitment to actively supporting young researchers through to their doctorates and to highlight and recognize the special significance of this demanding task.
The award is endowed with €2,500 and is presented annually to two supervisors from different academic disciplines, one from the humanities and social sciences and one from the natural and life sciences. Nominations can be made by doctoral students and postdocs up to three years after completing their doctorate (individuals or groups) as well as by departments and research centers following a corresponding departmental or center decision. For further details, please refer to the guidelines (only available in German) and the nomination form, which lists a selection of possible important factors for outstanding supervision. The personal statement of the nominator (included in the nomination form) will be taken into particular consideration in the decision.
The prize will be awarded by the univerity's President based on recommendations from the Board of Directors of the MArburg University Research Academy (MARA).
