Subproject A08
Administrating Transnational Health Crises: Security Routines and the Regulation of Dynamics of Contagion

2. Funding period (2018-2021)

This subproject examines the interplay between the perception of transnational health crises and the formation of legal-administrative processes of dealing with them. On the one hand, it asks how the transnational dimension of the health crisis is problematized in a security-relevant way - for example, as inadequate control of borders, lack of medical care, or as a threat to world trade (crisis heuristics). Of interest are the instances of observation that frame the crisis situation and make it legible by means of corresponding forms of data generation. Second, we ask which administrative regulations and techniques are used to manage the health crisis (crisis repertoire).
