A16 - Ralph Stadhouders:

Functional epigenomics of type-2 immune responses in allergic asthma

We currently lack a complete understanding of how the different immune cells involved in asthma evoke a hyperactive type-2 immune response. The proposed combination of asthma-relevant mouse models, state-of-the-art genomics technology and asthma patient material will provide new insight into how various external signals reprogram naive Th cells and ILC2s in situ at the chromatin level to initiate, maintain and dampen type-2 immune responses. Through this approach we hope to reveal molecular mechanisms important for allergic asthma that are potentially amenable to therapeutic intervention.
