Lightsphere LEDs


The goal of the project LightSphere is to employ controlled lighting to achieve fast and a highly accurate surface analysis and 3D reconstruction of an object. For the generation of illumination patterns, a large spherical metal frame (diameter 216 cm) is constructed from two moveable geodesic domes. The sphere is equipped with a total of 2202 RGB LEDs. Stencilcreator Teaser


The StencilCreator can support graffiti artists to generate a multi-layer stencil from an input image, for which all stencil elements are connected and physically stable. A stencil is essentially a cut-out template that can be used to paint with color onto a surface. The stencil material acts as a binary mask that decides if the color reaches the surface or not. Multi-layer stencils are multiple such stencils applied on top of each other with a fixed ordering, such that each layer contributes a certain color to the result. (more)

Photo and Video Studio

The Graphics and Multimedia Group operates a photo and video studio to generate test recordings for research and teaching. The central element of the studio is a green screen cyclorama, which can be used as a keying background for compositing with virtual scenes. Furthermore, a motorized background system allows selecting real paper backdrops with different colors. Members of the Philipps-Universität Marburg can use the photo and video studio free of charge.
