Welcome to the Department of the Study of Religions

The goal of the current research
in the Study of Religions is to obtain knowledge concerning the history
and present state of myriad religions. This research is thus depicted
in a comparative perspective, whereby all religions are in principle
considered to be of equal value. The course of study in the field of the study of religions facilitates the acquisition of basic knowledge of the different forms of human religious life and familiarizes students with the questions, methods, and current research in the discipline of the study of religions. The areas of focus of the study of religions at the Philipps University include comprehensive instruction in theory and method of the discipline, as well as the history and present state of the religions of Asia and Europe. The Department of the Study of Religions also enjoys close collaboration with the Museum of Religions, which enables students to specialize in museum work, with a focus on religions. |
