📑 Activation of a Pre-Received App Token (Mail/Pickup)

This process applies if you received an unactivated QR code via mail or in person at the IT Service Desk.

1. Transfer Token Data into the App

  1. Verify Preparation: Ensure that you have installed a compatible authentication app (e.g., Uni-App or 2FAS) and that the requirements for the 8-digit code length have been followed (see main guide, Step 1).
  2. Scan: Open your authentication app and use the function to scan the QR code you received.
  3. The token is now stored in your app, but it does not yet generate a valid code for logging in.

2. Token Activation via the Web Portal

Access the dedicated activation page to fully enable and activate your token:

A. Accept the Terms of Use

  • Step 1: Agree to the terms of use on the activation page and click Next.

B. Fill Out the Form

  • Step 2: Complete the form that appears as follows:
Field Entry Important Note
Username Your university account (e.g., mueller) Staff or students account
Realm The designation from your letterhead (usually staff- or students-rollout) Select the correct user group from the dropdown menu.
Password + 2FA Your password followed by the 8-digit app code (one-time password) No space between the password and the code!

  • Activate: Click the "weiter" (next) button.

After successful processing, the token is active and can be used immediately for all university 2FA services.
