Summary and research interests

After completing my Master's degree in 2020, I initially worked as a research assistant in the phonetics research group. In March 2022, I started working as a PhD student in the Research Training Group 2700 “Dynamics and Stability of Linguistic Representations” where I concentrate on investigating the neurobiology of the vowel space.

In my research I examine neural processes during voice processing and speaker recognition with a special interest on the categorization of linguistic and non-linguistic information in spoken language. In my PhD project, I focus on how speaker-specific features are represented in the brain and which voice characteristics are used to establish a person's identity. In my research I use behavioral as well as electrophysiological (EEG) and imaging (fMRI) methods.

Thereby, I aim to combine the fields of neurophonetics and psycholinguistics with forensic phonetics and hope that the results of my studies find applications in forensics and speech synthesis.

As further preparation, I am currently working on my Master's degree in "Linguistics: Cognition and Communication" which I will (hopefully) complete in spring 2022.
