Marburg University disseminates its knowledge into society in a diverse range of formats and for diverse audiences: through science communication, at museums and collections, and at lecture series and frequent events.

Lecture series and seminars

Lecture series and open seminars are part of the university’s knowledge transfer to society. They illuminate socially relevant topics from different perspectives and encourage interdisciplinary discussions based in science.
Studium Generale

The Studium Generale is a lecture series of the University of Marburg which is directed toward the general public. Each semester, a specific topic is examined from different perspectives.
Guests and seniors

As a guest, you can attend and audit many events at the university. There is a wide range of courses on offer in 16 departments with over 200 degree programs and subjects. (German)
Museums and collections

The University of Marburg includes the Museum of Art on Biegenstrasse and the Museum of Cultural History in the Marburg Castle, as well as more than 30 collections, many of which are open to the public. (German)
Events

From the University Summer Festival at the New Botanical Garden, to the Art Interlude at the museum and the awarding of the Marburg Camera Prize, to the concerts of the student ensembles – here you can find a selection of the regular events at Marburg University.
Science Communication

Science communication showcases the results of the research and science at the university, contextualizes them, explains the methods used, and introduces the people behind the results. Science communication continues to grow in importance, especially with regards to research projects. (German)
Green School

The Green School at the Botanical Garden offers comprehensive learning opportunities and experiences for schoolchildren of all ages and education levels. The offers range from themed tours – for example, on everyday exotic crops such as cacao or bananas – to project-driven field trips and birthday parties. (German)
Chemikum

The Chemikum is a hands-on laboratory with a focus on chemistry and is designed for children, teenagers, and adults. It is an important part of science education in Marburg and, with its diverse range of offers, is the only institution of its kind in Germany. (German)
Continuing education

With part-time degree programs and certificate courses, Marburg University offers continuing education at an academic level with practical relevance.
Portal on the history of Marburg University during the Nazi Era

The portal delves into the university’s history during the Nazi era. Especially against the backdrop of recent years, in which anti-Semitism and right-wing extremism have been on the rise, our critical culture of remembrance strives to counteract hatred and agitation. (German)
