Summer Festival

On the last day of classes of the summer semester, we celebrate our Summer Festival. Students, employees, and everyone interested are warmly invited to join us at the New Botanical Garden at the Lahnberge. Fascinating insights into science, a varied music program, information stands, and hands-on activities await the public. Admission is free.
Award Ceremonies

Marburg University honors exceptional scientific achievements with numerous awards. Some of the highlights include the Marburg Camera Prize in the context of the Marburg Camera Talks, the Brothers Grimm Prize, and the Emil von Behring Prize.
Art Interlude

Every Wednesday at 12:30pm, the Art Museum holds 30 minute events with a casual atmosphere. The Art Interlude offers pointed insights regarding select works and encourages inspirational thinking and lively conversations. Admission to the museum is free during the Art Interlude. (German)
Laboratory for Schoolchildren

The Botanical Garden’s Laboratory offers courses on photosynthesis and molecular genetics. Over 600 high school juniors and seniors from Marburg and the region take advantage of this offer each year. This cutting-edge content and authentic environment serve to enrich the schools’ natural science curricula. (German)

Concerts of the University Choir

At the end of every semester, the University Choir – made up of 80 students, educators, employees, and external singers – present an ambitious a cappella program with classical-oriented music. Special focus is placed on bringing the music of forgotten composers back to life.
Concerts of the Student Symphony Orchestra

The Marburg Student Symphony Orchestra consists of 60 members and is one of the few orchestras in Germany that exists independently of the university and in a city without a local music academy or institute for school music. The New Year’s Concert and the End of Semester Concerts are some of the musical highlights of the year.
Concerts of the Student Big Band

The Marburg Student Big Band offers a musical program that explores a diverse range of music: from the traditional big band genres of jazz and swing to funk, Latin, rock, and pop. The End of Semester Concerts are important and well- established events in the Marburg music scene.
