eResearch Infosnacks on Data and Code at the International Love Data Week 9-13 February
Your research data and code are key for your success - and deserve to be managed in the best possible way! To support you with this endeavour, at "Love Data Week 2026", we will be offering Infosnacks during the lunch break. In these short 30 minute online information sessions we provide you with information about offers and services around research data and code management for you as researcher of Marburg University. Of course, we will be happy to take your questions. Our Infosnacks are for free and fully virtual.
Love Data Week is an international celebration of research data, taking place every year during the week of Valentine's day.

Programme
Monday, 9th February 12:00-12:30 Managing Data and Code with support from eResearch Servicecenter - an Introduction (Dr. Ortrun Brand)
Everyone in reserach has to take care of data and code related to research. Also, third party funding requires an elaborate concept for research data management - not only to meet the requirements of good scientific practice, but also to ensure that data and code is as open to the public as possible. To support your data and code management, UMR has established the eResearch Service Center, a collaoration on the research data management office, the University Library and the University Computing Center. In this introductory Infosnack, we outline what data and code management entails and how the eResearch Service Center makes your life easier in this regard, for example with data management plans and our consulting service.
Tuesday, 10th February 12:00-12:30 DataHub at UMR: Storage/Compute (Stefan Lenze)
The DataHub at Marburg University is a newly established research infrastructure which offers a full suite of central services, training, prototype workflows and support. It bundles generic but versatile resources / tools for storage and compute, communication and collaboration, data collection, -versioning and -sharing, code development, AI, project management, electronic lab organization and publication which are all hosted in Marburg or at partner institutions.
Wednesday, 11th February 12:00-12:30 GitLab & Jupyter (Tobias Ortwein)
The GitLab at Marburg University offers a very versatile platform for working collaboratively on a project. It offers many features like, version control of code and data, hosting of static websites and automation pipelines. Jupyter represents interactive computing, data processing and programming for beginners and experts alike. It is a versatile tool and provides a low threshold entry to the world of coding.
Thursday, 12th February 12:00-12:30 open_UMR - the new open repository of Marburg University (Dr. Lydia Riedl)
open_UMR is Marburg University’s new NextGen institutional repository for text, data and code. This infosnack explains why openly sharing research output matters, shows how open_UMR enables FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) publication, and delivers a short live demo. Join this Infosnack to see how open_UMR drives quality, reproducibility and Open Science.
Friday, 13th February 12:00-12:30 NFDI & NFDI4Biodiversity & eResearch - support for your research data mangement (Dr. Juliane Röder)
Data management has become increasingly important in recent years, with funders and journals setting higher and higher standards for data availability, quality, and transparency. To meet these requirements, researchers have access to more resources and services than ever before. If you need help managing your data, the German NFDI consortia offer discipline-specific training and solutions, such as NFDI4Biodiversity for biodiversity data. Additionally, the Marburg University eResearch Service Center provides training and solutions for generic RDM needs. Join us for a presentation on where to find help for your data!
