Institute

The Institute of Classical Languages and Literatures (IKSL) comprises the academic fields of Indology, Greek and Latin (Classics) as well as Celtic Studies and Indo-European Linguistics.  

The Institute thus combines text-oriented subjects that deal with languages, literatures and cultures from prehistory (Indo-European Linguistics) through antiquity (Hittite; Greek and Latin) and the Middle Ages (Celtic languages) to modern times (Indology). Accordingly, the particular range of research and teaching, the variety of methodological approaches and the spectrum of our topics is very broad. The favorable ratio between staff and students enables us to work closely with the students.
