In networked digitalised cities, it is necessary to enable communication among the population and among emergency services, especially in exceptional situations such as natural disasters.

The internet protocol was originally designed to be decentralised, but due to the nature of the applications it is now often embedded in centralised structures. However, various technologies exist for the decentralised establishment, configuration and operation of communication infrastructures.

This seminar will examine and compare various technologies that enable networking without a centralised control structure.
