Embedded systems are the basis of many modern digital devices, especially in digitalised cities and (Industrial) Internet of Things (IoT).

While initially embedded systems could only be used for simple applications, today, they offer a wide range of interfaces, wired and wireless communication channels and operation modes.
In particular, the ultra-low-power mode of various platforms enables simultaneous complex calculations, such as pattern recognition and energy-saving continuous operation.
Embedded systems, in general, do not use conventional operating systems. Instead, firmware is programmed directly using platform-specific libraries (Arduino, FreeRTOS, etc.).

As part of this seminar, students will be introduced to embedded systems development in a practical manner. Students will be given an assignment that they have to analyse, understand and implement on real-world hardware.
