Our Research
We conduct research on next-generation solar cells and develop innovative concepts for sustainable, high-performance photovoltaics. Our work focuses on perovskite solar cells, a promising thin-film technology that combines high efficiency with low material consumption, offering great potential for the future energy supply.
Our research group is funded as part of the “Nano2tera – Sustainably Scalable, Highly Efficient, and Long-Term Stable Perovskite Solar Cells for Maximum Sustainable Yield” project. The project is supported by the NanoMatFutur program of the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology, and Space. The funding period runs from February 2026 to January 2031, with a total funding amount of approximately two million euros.
The goal of the project is to combine fundamental materials research at the nanometer scale with the requirements of future industrial manufacturing. The focus is on perovskite solar cells with novel, particularly stable carbon electrodes. These are intended to enable high performance, a long service life, and resource-efficient, scalable manufacturing.
In addition, we are developing high-throughput methods to systematically investigate aging processes and specifically improve the long-term stability of perovskite solar cells.
