On May 5th, three members of M4C research groups present their science projects at the Science Slam in Waggonhalle Marburg.

At the Science Slam, researchers from a wide variety of disciplines leave their labs and take the stage. In engaging, exciting presentations, they share their research in an entertaining and accessible way. The audience decides, through a lively voting process, which presentation offers the best combination of science and entertainment.

Maren Nattermann, Research Group Leader at the MPI, introduces enzyme and pathway engineering to the audience and shows how they can be used as tools to upcycle waste.

Pia Richter, postdoctoral researcher in the group of Martin Thanbichler, will present her work on recycling processes and stability of the bacterial cell wall.

Sandra Schuller, postdoctoral researcher in the group of Jan Schuller, will talk about cryo electron microscopy, a technique in which samples are deep-frozen to keep them in a near native state and imaged with very high magnification.

The Marburg Science Slam is organized and hosted by Bernd Waldeck (science comedian) and Martin Esters (improv actor).
