This year MPI and UMR are joining forces under the banner of the M4C Cluster of Excellence to participate in the City Cycling 2026 campaign.
From 3 to 23 May 2026, the City Cycling campaign organised by the Climate Alliance will take place in the Marburg-Biedenkopf district. Everyone is invited to collect bike kilometres for 21 days to promote cycling. Since 2022, the MPI has participated as “Cycling Microbes,” but this year MPI and UMR are joining forces under the banner of the M4C Cluster of Excellence.
“Cycling Microbes 4 Climate” invites all microbe enthusiasts to join in. We want to draw attention to climate protection and the power of cycling, as well as to the many invisible organisms that enable us to do so. After all, everyone is cycling around with about 2 kg of microbes!
It's easy to join in: just register via the QR code on our flyer or at Stadtradeln.de. Our Cycling Microbes 4 Climate - team is found under 'Marburg im Landkreis Marburg-Biedenkopf'.
You can enter all the kilometres you cover by bike during the period 3–23 May (whether for work or personal use) into the portal or via the app for our team. Family members can join in too — the team is open to everyone.
The aim is to cycle as many kilometres as possible during the campaign to help protect the climate. It doesn't matter if you already cycle every day or have rarely ridden a bike before. You can find more details in the City Cycling rules.
