Hantschel Lab

Targeted Cancer Therapeutics

Current research focus and approaches
Research in the Hantschel lab is driven by two central basic biological questions of medical relevance:
1. How do oncoproteins reprogram cellular signaling networks resulting in oncogenic transformation and tumorigenesis?
2. Can we find innovative and unconventional ways to selectively re-wire oncoprotein complexes/signaling networks with engineered proteins or small molecule inhibitors?

The Hantschel lab uses interdisciplinary approaches at the interface of protein biochemistry, structural biology, protein engineering molecular oncology, proteomics and chemical biology to study cancer cell signaling with the aim to find novel ways for therapeutic intervention.
