On the following pages you can gain insights into the fields of work within the different Majors. Exemplary research groups from each Major are presented. At the Faculty of Medicine alone more than 80 research groups are available for your internships and final theses.

Infection Biology

The Major Infection Biology addresses the question of how bacteria and viruses cause diseases and how the innate and adaptive immune system can defend against pathogens.
Tumor Biology

The Major Tumor Biology covers a broad spectrum of fundamental questions from the development of tumors to clinically relevant therapeutic approaches.
Cell Biology

The Cell Biology Major explores the cell as the basic unit of life. By understanding the structure, composition and function of the cell and its various organelles in detail, we can gain insights into cell assemblies within tissues or even within an entire organism.
Neurobiology

ATTENTION: This specialisation is only offered in the Bachelor's degree. If you are interested in a Master's degree programme in this subject area, the Molecular and Cellular Neuroscience or Cognitive and Integrative Systems Neuroscience degree programmes may be suitable for you.
