What makes this program special: studying interdisciplinarily at a research center

The BA minor in Gender Studies and Feminist Science is an interdisciplinary program offered within Marburg University's combined bachelor's degree system (Kombibachelor). This means you can study Gender Studies alongside one or two other subjects. You can find more information about the combined bachelor's degree system on the university's website. Seminars bring together students from a wide range of major disciplines, and lecturers come from different academic fields across the university.

Choosing this program means studying not only within a department (Dept. 03 – Social Sciences and Philosophy), but also at an interdisciplinary research center: the Center for Gender Studies and Feminist Futurology. The Center sits across departmental boundaries by design, bringing together researchers, teachers, and students from many different fields around a shared theme that concerns all disciplines: gender. These interdisciplinary perspectives are also reflected in the teaching within the minor program, giving you insights into various disciplines throughout your studies, building a broad foundation of gender competence, and meaningfully complementing your major subject.

Beyond coursework, the Center offers a range of activities and ways to participate. We publish a monthly newsletter with information about events, publications, and more. We also regularly organize events and lectures, produce podcasts from recordings of our events, support students and researchers in realizing their own projects, and promote student initiatives.
