In the HeFDI Data School, we offer you cross-location and cross-disciplinary training on the topic of research data management. The Data School is aimed at doctoral students and academic staff at Hessen's universities; the training courses take place online, are free of charge and held in German. For the traceability of the provenance of research data, the consistent versioning of these data represents an important cornerstone in research data management. In this lecture, we will introduce you to the basic principles of versioning on the one hand, and on the other hand, we will show you how you can version your data. In addition to simple methods of versioning, you will also be shown how to work with the version management software "Git" and the web application "GitLab".
