Weitere Informationen:

All along the 20th century, anthropologists have been working on the harmonization of the field of kinship - either through a linguistically inspired approach of kinship terminologies,  or by strengthening the bond between "kinship" and rules of marriage, and - more generally - social structures. In so doing, they assumed that the foundation of kinship is universal, i.e. a "social" or "cultural" interpretation of natural laws of reproduction. We will try to show that this view of kinship is based by deep ethnocentrism.  At least two other perceptions of  kinship do exist in  Australia and in the Americas.  These differences necessarily have  an impact on what kinship and - consequently - what society is. As the very global overview of kinship terminologies attests, this impact can be read very easily at that level.
