Consulting Service for Asian Students

Introduction

The mission of this consulting service is to promote the academic success and holistic experience of Asian students in the Mathematics and Computer Science Department (FB12). There are about thirty to forty students from China and other Asian countries studying in FB12 at Philipps University Marburg. Most of you have left the family for the first time, started a new life in an unfamiliar place. Though full of excitement, a lot of unexpected challenges arise in the study and the personal life. Some of them are even hardly imaginable for a native student. In order to help you cope with such difficulties, advocated by Prof. Ilka Agricola and Prof. Rita Loogen, we start this consulting service. We are glad to help you regarding various issues, such as:

• How should I organize my study?
• I'm having trouble with my classes but I don't know where to get help.
• I'm sick and can't take an exam or finish a problem set. What should I do?
• I'm thinking about taking time away from the university. Who should I talk to?
• I need someone to talk to.
• etc.
