The Economics of the Middle East Research Group of Philipps-Universität Marburg in cooperation with Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, University of Tehran, and Tarbiat Modares University continued its successful series of seasonal schools with the 2018 Winter School, which was held at Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences in Mashhad.

  • Topics

As part of our series of seasonal schools within the „Political Economy of Natural Resource Management” academic and cultural project, the second event in 2018 will cover the topic of “Water and Sustainable Development”. In lectures, seminars and workshops, we will discuss the role of water from different points of view. Our participants have a variety of academic backgrounds such as Economics, Sociology and Geography. Overall, there are different interesting, policy-relevant questions to ask, and issues to discuss. We are looking forward to meet you!

  • Goals

We want to give students from Germany and Iran the opportunity to receive intercultural experiences and competences within an academic environment. This includes networking and discussing with experts from the two respective countries. Furthermore, we want to teach students in relevant methods and give them a broad picture about the research on the political economy of natural resource management. In addition, internationalization of teaching in both countries and sustainable cooperation in research projects are other goals of our initiative which started formally in 2016.
