Research foci of the chair

In addition to current and fundamental issues in International and European Law, the chair analyses interfacing processes of norms and sociopolitical decisions, contextualising law in socioeconomic terms. Globalisation and Europeanisation as well as the mutual influences and effects of supranational organisations and international regimes on the national (constitutional) legal order form a focal point of research activity.

The dissertation projects of the chair deal with regional economic integration, free trade and investment protection agreements, foreign trade law, and heuristics and repertoires of the Council of the League of Nations and the United Nations Security Council. In addition, a paper on parliamentary law is being written at the chair.

The chair is involved in the subproject “Collective Security” of the Collaborative Research Center/Transregio 138 “Dynamics of Security: Forms of Securitization in Historical Perspective.”

As part of the Central Hesse Research Campus, the chair works closely with the Franz von Liszt Institute at the School of Law at the Justus Liebig University of Giessen and the Leibnitz Institute Hesse Foundation for Peace and Conflict Research (HSFK).
