The lecture ties in with Prof. Dr. Encarnación Gutiérrez Rodríguez's current research on mourning as a decolonial practice, creolising conviviality, and the coloniality of migration.
Prof. Dr. Encarnación Gutiérrez Rodríguez is a social scientist and professor at Goethe University Frankfurt am Main, as well as head of the MeDiMi subproject on human rights discourses in political protests by refugees and undocumented migrants in Germany and the USA. Her research interests lie in the field of decolonial perspectives on social analysis and theory, critical theory, feminist and queer theory, epistemologies of the Global South, and critical migration and racism studies.
Her publications include: Does the Subaltern Speak German? Migration and Postcolonial Critique (with Hito Steyerl, 2003), Migration, Domestic Work and Affect: A Decolonial Approach on Value and Feminisation (2010), Migrant Feminism in the Women's Movement in Germany (1985–2000) (with Pınar Tuzcu, 2022), Decolonial Mourning and the Caring Commons: Migration-Coloniality, Necropolitics and Conviviality Infrastructure (2023)
The lecture will be held in English.
