On July 18, 2023, the one-day workshop Beyond writing and iconography: coding & de-coding Amerindian graphisms took place as part of the 57th International Congress of Americanists, Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil. Prof. Katarzyna Mikulska, Dr. Araceli Rojas, PhD students Justyna Kowalczyk and Karolina Juszczyk from the Institute for Iberian and Ibero-American Studies at the University of Warsaw, and Prof. Dr. Ernst Halbmayer and research associates PD Dr. Christiane Clados and Anne Goletz from the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology at the University of Marburg presented further results of their sub-projects. Also invited were international guests such as Enrique Bautista Quijano (Universidad Nacional de Colombia), Julio Rodolfo Masias Leiva (Universidad Nacional Frederico Villarreal), Lilian Briceno Jorquera (Universidad de Tarapacá, Chile) and Dante Angelo (Chungara Revista de Antropología Chilena ), Juan Villanueva (Bonn University), Lucia van Velthem (Ministério da Ciência, Tecnologia e Inovação do Brasil (MCTI)), Ana Cristina de Vasconcelos Lima (Universidade de São Paulo), and Alonso Rodrigo Zamora Corona (Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México).
