Zur Person

Eva Wegner holds PhD in Social and Political Science from the European University Institute in Florence. She was postdoctoral fellow at the Southern Africa Labour and Development Research Unit ( SALDRU) at the University of Cape Town, South Africa and the German Institute of Global and Area Studies in Hamburg. Before joining Philipps-University Marburg, she was Associate Professor in the School of Politics and International Relations (SPIRe) at University College Dublin. 

Her research focusses on political behaviour, inequality, accountability, and development. Her regional focus is on the Middle East and Sub-Saharan Africa. She has conducted several research projects on Islamist political parties and voting behaviour in the Middle East and North Africa, as well as several on accountability, empowerment and redistribution in Sub-Saharan Africa. Her work has appeared in Perspectives on Politics, Journal of Conflict Resolution, Quarterly Journal of Political Science, Party Polities, and Electoral Studies, among others.
