Study Planning and Course Structure

Students of the BA Middle Eastern Studies and the BA Middle Eastern Studies International who wish to focus on Turkey are advised to carefully plan their studies from the very beginning.

Language training and subject-specific expertise form the two central pillars of Turkish Studies in Marburg.
Language training extends over six semesters and comprises six modules (Turkish 1 to Turkish 6), totaling 48 credits.

Students of the BA Middle Eastern Studies International also have the opportunity to further develop their language skills during a year abroad in Turkey.
Subject-specific expertise is acquired through elective compulsory modules at intermediate and advanced levels (each module consists of two seminars).

Modules consisting of two seminars can be completed within one semester or over the course of two semesters. Each module can only be taken once during the degree program.
