Quality Management – Planning and Controlling Quality Processes

Particularly in times of economic turmoil, but also given the general need for effective internal governance structures, quality management - as well as any signals sent to third parties in the form of “certifications” - is of significant importance to a firm’s success. This assessment applies to both established firms and “start-ups,” which, on the one hand, must regularly report to their equity and debt holders and, on the other hand, should have a particular interest in improving efficiency. The seminar-style workshop, offered as needed during the summer semester, addresses the considerations outlined above and provides a concise and practical introduction to quality management methods

Starting with fundamental questions about what “quality” entails and how it can be achieved, the course focuses primarily on various practical methods of quality management. The topics covered range from approaches to problem-solving and the handling of measurement data to statistical methods of quality control, and also include the design of processes and products that meet specific requirements. Small group projects using empirical data on the impact of quality processes on success provide hands-on practice with the material covered earlier. In a comprehensive overview, participants learn how to build a certified quality management system from individual pieces of information and methods, and how to align companies with a quality-oriented approach.

The instructor for this practice-oriented course at ifG Marburg is Uwe Saelzle of ICG Zertifizierung GmbH, who has many years of professional experience and has successfully carried out various certification projects for well-known German (large) corporations. Additional guest lectures round out the course. Interested students will gain deep, career-oriented insights into the exciting field of quality management in all its facets! The course is explicitly aimed not only at students of Business and Economics, but at students from all disciplines, particularly those in the natural sciences, as well as those interested in starting their own businesses.

In addition, executive education seminars on quality management can also be offered to interested members of the support association of the ifG Marburg.
