Political Economy of the FRG and European Integration

In the field of Political Economy, we focus not only on the history of Political Economy, which helps to categorize the existing system as changeable, but primarily on the critique of capitalist economics. We ask what consequences this mode of production has for political coexistence and what fundamental conflicts arise in this context. Accordingly, the analysis of power and domination conflicts is central, how they are addressed, and whether there are potential alternatives to the existing structures. Special attention is given to the transnationalization of economic and political-social processes, which have taken on a very specific form in the context of the European integration process.

Additionally, the question of democracy is key: Do these processes reinforce or weaken democracy? What needs to be done, and what would democratic alternatives to the existing system look like?

A specific policy area in which these questions are examined is migration policy in Europe.
