New Testament

New Testament research and teaching is currently represented by Professor Lukas Bormann, Professor Angela Standhartinger, the researchers Dr. Aliyah El Mansy, Dr. Johanna Conrad and Eva-Maria Kreitschmann, and the language teacher Ulrike Rosin. The New Testament discipline focuses on historical-critical interpretation of early Christian texts, considering their possible origins as well as their social, political, cultural and religious environment. The research is based on a strong national and international network and carried out in inter- and transdisciplinary research associations. Following the tradition of research on the history of religion and form by Adolf Jülicher, Rudolf Bultmann, Dieter Lührmann, Wolfgang Harnisch, and Friedrich Avemarie, the New Testament discipline also aligns with the hermeneutical reflection that arises from the work of Rudolf Bultmann, Ernst Fuchs, and Gerd Schunack.
