   The only known planet (4.5 billion years old) on which carbon-based life has emerged approximately 3.5 billion years ago. Living organisms have diversified greatly since. Today the home to millions of different species including Homo sapiens and Drosophila melanogaster. Sadly, many species are currently going the way of the Dodo.
