Research Services
What is a Research Service?
A Research Service regulates the provision of scientific or technical services which Marburg University performs for third parties availing of Marburg University’s own knowledge-base and infrastructure, such as measurements, tests, creation of systems, software programming, collection and evaluation of data, and possibly expert opinions. Consultancy assignments which are to be handled by the University (and not as part-time work) equally fall within this category.
How is Funding Regulated?
Compensation is based upon full costs according to the simplified order calculation scheme following the EU Community Guidelines, plus value added tax. These compensations are considered as operating revenues, but not third-party funds according to Marburg University’s allocation key.
What about Regulations concerning Intellectual Property (IP)
As a rule, Research Service Agreements do not contain any provisions concerning Marburg University’s intellectual property rights; all intellectual property rights and know-how within the context of the applied methods and any further developments thereof remain with Marburg University.
What Legal Framework Conditions must be observed?
The client’s interest in obtaining the specifically agreed results / work must be taken into account; in this instance, Marburg University is legally obliged to deliver, for example, all measurement results, software, reports, expert opinions on time and without any quality or legal defects.
