Process: from idea to collaboration

The point of initiation and the objectives of external collaboration can vary greatly from the outset. However, it usually starts with a project idea and initial contact between the partners. We strongly recommend contacting the transfer department at this stage.
If you would like to notify us of a new collaboration with external partners, please complete this PDF file (in german) and send it to us together with any other project-related documents, such as your project application, the approval, the financial plan or a draft contract.
Together we will check whether pre-contractual agreements are necessary for the project.
Once the desire to work together has become more concrete, it is necessary to determine which form of collaboration corresponds to the wishes and objectives of the partners. At this stage, a cost calculation is usually carried out. If the form of cooperation is in the commercial area, a corresponding offer is prepared for the partner.
Once the form of collaboration has been determined, a draft contract is drawn up and negotiated between the parties. Once the contract has been signed, it is legally binding and the project work can begin.
Clinical trials involving patients or volunteers are subject to separate regulations. Please contact the Coordination Centre for Clinical Trials (KKS) at an early stage of your application in this regard.
