Financing

The Erasmus+ Staff Mobility Program for Partner countries (KA171) offers a financial support based on fixed funding rates.

    To determine the distance band, a distance calculator provided by the EU-Commission is used.

  • Additional Financial Support

    In case your Staff Mobility to Marburg should entail higher costs not covered by the base sum of an Erasmus+ grant, it is possible to apply for additional funding if you meet one or more of the following criteria:

    Green Travel

    If you choose to travel by any means of transport with low emission and the distance between your home institution and the University of Marburg is less than 4,000 km, you may apply for additional travel funding, including additional travel days.

    This additional support covers travels where the majority of the journey is undertook using means of travel with low emission such as using the bus, train or car sharing.
    It entails in detail:

    A higher travel support: 30-80 EUR on top of the regular base amount depending on geographical distance (cf. table)

    Additional travel days: If you cannot complete the journey between 6.00 and 24.00 o’clock, i.e. in one day, you may be eligible for additional travel days (up to four). If this should be the case, please contact us.

    Low emission means of transport are: Bus, train, car sharing, bike, other sustainable ways of traveling.

    Means of transport not eligible for Green Travel: Car, plane, ship

    If you wish to apply for Green Travel, please send us the Declaration on Honor as soon as possibe with your other application documents.

    Inclusion Support: Staff member with disability

    Target group: Any staff member with a disability degree of 20 or higher or with a chronic disease resulting in additional financial costs in a foreign country.

    Please note that such an application needs to be submitted at least 2 months prior to your stay at Marburg so please get in touch with us early if this applies to you.

    Inclusion Support: Staff member with child

    Target group: Any staff member who will come to Marburg for a staff mobility and bring their child with them. You can find additional information on this matter on the web page of the DAAD.

    Please note that such an application needs to be submitted at least 2 months prior to your stay at Marburg so please get in touch with us early if this applies to you.

  • Duration of Stay and Funding

    A mobility period will consist of five working days and two travel days additionally (plus Green Travel if applicable)– the five working days are necessarily Monday-Friday, i.e. a working week.

    For stays any longer than this please contact the International Office of the University of Marburg for an individual consultation.

    Please note that it is necessary to plan an agenda consisting of min. 8 working hours per week to receive an Erasmus+ grant. 

  • Receiving of Financial Support

    The financial support will be disbursed in cash upon your arrival.

    This means that flight tickets as well as hotel costs have to be paid in advance prior to obtaining the Erasmus+ grant.

    To receive the financial support, please organize a meeting with the International Office as part of the planning process of a mobility. The meeting should ideally take place on Monday, i.e. the first day of your staff mobility.
