It contains articles devoted to the study of religions and issues which arise.
The purpose of Marburg Journal of Religion is to publish articles on empirical and theoretical studies of religion. There are no restrictions on the particular historical or contemporary fields which may be considered. As regards methodology, editorial policy is also broadly conceived. However, the journal does not carry theological discussions within the frame of reference of any one religion, nor does it promote any particular religion. Contributions which help in some way to develop the identity of the study of religions as a discipline (Religionswissenschaft) are particularly welcome. The journal is international in character.
