ifG Marburg

Welcome to the ifG | Marburg Institute of Cooperative Studies at the University of Marburg!

Since its founding on August 1, 1947, the ifG Marburg has been dedicated to interdisciplinary research in Business Administration & Economics at the intersection with legal and regulatory issues. The curriculum primarily covers various areas of institutional practice (e.g., corporate and tax law as part of a comprehensive corporate governance), as well as the fields of “Disclosure & Auditing” and “(Banking) Regulation,” including current developments in the context of sustainability and digitalization. Within this framework, the Institute is particularly committed to closely integrating academic research with cooperative practice and to sustainably strengthening cooperatives in a variety of ways through well-founded solutions.

The founding and development of the ifG Marburg stem from a joint initiative involving the academic community, the cooperative sector, and the state government of Hesse.  The institute is funded by a support association and the University of Marburg. The ifG Marburg itself - in keeping with its history - has been organized as a (nonprofit) foundation under private law since 1961.

Learn more about our areas of work and research, the support services we offer, and our academic programs on the institute’s website, and feel free to contact us!
