M.A. International Criminal Justice
International Criminal Justice is a relatively new field of teaching and research with an increasing focus on academic training that has emerged since the 1990s. Based on several years of interdisciplinary teaching and research experience at the ICWC and as part of a collaboration between the departments of Law, History and Cultural Studies, Social Sciences, and Philosophy, the interdisciplinary and innovative Master's program "International Criminal Justice: Law, History, Politics" (ICJ) is being offered at Philipps-University Marburg since the winter semester 2020/2021.
The four-semester Master's program "International Criminal Justice: Law, History, Politics" is open to 15 students per year from different disciplines. It is aimed at lawyers who have passed the First Law Examination as well as graduates of a bachelor's degree program - or a comparable domestic or foreign university degree - in the fields of law, history, social sciences, philosophy, economics, media studies, psychology, regional studies, geography, religious studies, gender studies, archives and documentation, and translation studies.
Graduates of the Master's program "International Criminal Justice: Law, History, Politics" will enter the job market with in-depth and interdisciplinary knowledge, as well as professional, methodological, social, and personal skills that are demanded in numerous professional fields, including in particular:
- International and internationalized courts
- National and international organizations for combating international and transnational crime
- Other national and international institutions in related fields (e.g., human rights, transitional justice)
- Foreign ministries, justice ministries, interior ministries, defense ministries, parliaments
- International and national non-governmental organizations, think tanks and foundations
- Museums, memorials, archives, documentation centers
- Media, public relations, journalism
- Publishing houses (e.g. as editor)
- Science (universities, research institutions)
