The objective of the master's program is a research-oriented education that enriches and expands the scientific expertise and skills in cognitive and integrative systems neuroscience acquired during a bachelor's program in a scientific field or another program with neuroscience components.
The program builds on a comprehensive introduction to neuroscientific fundamentals in the 1st and 2nd semesters, followed by an orientation and qualification phase in the 3rd and 4th semesters. Key qualifications are simultaneously acquired in methods courses.
As a result of the involvement of work groups from the departments of Biology, German Studies and Aesthetics and Art History, Physics, Psychology and Medicine, the range of content is very broadly diversified.
Major topics
The program is focused on systematic aspects of the neurosciences and provides an education in Neuronal Network Analysis, Neurophysiology, Neuroethology, Neurophysics, Brain Imaging Processes, Neurolinguistics, Cognitive, Affective and Social Neurosciences.
Objectives
The program qualifies students for scientific basic research in public and private research institutions, applied research and development in the pharmaceutical and biomedical industry, clinical research and other work with systems neuroscientific and cognitive neuroscientific alignment. Furthermore, the program enables the path to a doctorate.
Admission requirements
Required university degree Degree from a discipline-related bachelor's program in a scientific field, other programs with neuroscientific components (of at least 12 CP) or a comparable bachelor's program at a German or foreign university Certifications of program-specific knowledge and skills to be submitted prior to admission German skills:
