27.02.2019 Gastvortrag: "Building Asian Canadian Studies" (28.05.2018)

Prof. Eleanor Ty to provide overview over her field of studies

On May 28 2018 on 12 o'clock Professor Eleanor Ty will give a guest lecture about "Building Asian Canadian Studies" in Professor Kuester's lecture series about Canada after the Sesquicentennial.

Eleanor Ty is professor of English at Wilfrid Laurier University and is one of the leading scholars in Asian Canadian and Asian American Studies. In her 2017 book Asianfail: Narratives of Disenchantment and the Model Minority she deals with conflicts between newer generations of people of Asian origin and their parents. However, her interests are far more diverse, as Ty also deals with questions of ethnicity, gender and memory as well as 18th century writing. She is also interested in graphic novels and TV series – as an example of the latter one can follow her blog about the Outlander TV series.

Everybody is welcome to listen to Professor Ty's lecture and discuss with her afterwards.
