ICC Mediation Competition First National Pre-Moot (Marburg, January 25, 2014)

The Philipps-Universität Marburg and the ICC Deutschland will hold the First National Pre-Moot on January 25, 2014.  The teams from all of the five German universities that have qualified for the 9th ICC Mediation Competition of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) in Paris will take part in this friendly competition in order to improve their mediation skills and their chances in Paris.

In addition to the host team of the Philipps-Universität Marburg, the student teams of Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn, the Bucerius Law School of Hamburg, the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Universität Hannover and the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München will participate in the event.

Each team represents a party in a in a commercial dispute before a professional mediator. The quality of the students’ representation of their clients’ positions and their effective use of the particular facets of mediation is assessed by an impartial jury.

The formal opening of the First National Pre-Moot will take place on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 9 a.m. in the Alte Aula of the Philipps-Universität.  The negotiations, which take two and a half hours each, will be held at 9.30 a.m., 1.30 p.m. und 4.30 p.m. in the Alte Aula und in other locations. Visitors are welcome to come and take a look at the possibilities of commercial mediation and this interdisciplinary learning project.
