10.05.2023 Press release for new article

Forest owners may receive payments for not cutting down their forest or for reforesting. Such payments for so-called ecosystem services may promote forest protection worldwide. The impact of these incentives on environmental consciousness has been explored in a study under the direction of Dr. Tobias Vorlaufer, environmental economist at the University of Osnabrück (with Stefanie Engel, Jost de Laat and Björn Vollan).

Please read the press release (in German) and the article Payments for ecosystem services did not crowd out pro-environmental behavior: Long-term experimental evidence from Uganda published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS).
