MACIES Lecture 2026:

MACIES welcomes Prof. Dr. Indra de Soysa  on November 26

Social conflicts, political instability, and economic misdevelopments are often considered in isolation in public debates. The underlying conditions of the institutional and regulatory framework tend to be overlooked. From the perspective of institutional economics, the fundamental question is which rules and institutions safeguard individual freedom, promote responsible behavior, and ensure long-term social stability.

On 26 November 2026, Prof. Dr. Indra de Soysa will share insights from his empirical research on economic governance, political freedoms, and conditions of societal violence in the MACIES-Lecture 2026.

The MACIES-Lecture 2026 is part of the program to celebrate the 500th anniversary of Marburg University and is supported by the Doris und Dr. Michael Hagemann-Stiftung.
