Dr. Sven Fischer
Sven Fischer received his doctoral degree from the School of Business and Economics at Philipps-Universität Marburg in 2023, where he analyzed several aspects of the political economy of natural disasters in Iran, using different quantitative methodological approaches. His findings revealed how natural disasters affect economic development, including spatial spillovers to neighboring geographical units, as well as the drivers of natural disaster literacy in Iran, such as trust in institutions. Additionally, he showed how periods of uncertainty influence marriage and fertility dynamics in Iran. He is currently a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Center for Near and Middle Eastern Studies (CNMS) at Philipps-Universität Marburg. His research interests include the fields of development economics, environmental and resource economics, and institutional economics.
