Sustainability in Research

In order to bundle and expand the topic of sustainability in research and teaching, the School of Business and Economics has filled three professorships that approach the topic of sustainability from different perspectives and with different content orientations. The corresponding professorships are:

  • W2 Professorship for Sustainable Use of Natural Resources (held by Björn Vollan)
  • W2 Professorship for Sustainability and Economic Policy (in the process of being filled, call granted)
  • Qualification Professorship for Sustainability Management (filled from 01.06.2022 with Theresa Dickler)

This research group increases the attractiveness of Philipps-Universität Marburg and the School of Business and Economics in the field of sustainability.

The three professorships form a research cluster in the field of sustainability. Problems from the field of sustainability are examined from different angles and in a more interdisciplinary way. In addition, the sustainability research cluster brings together the decentralised research activities on sustainability that exist in other research groups.

The School of Business and Economics is part of the research cluster "Security, Order, Conflict" at Philipps-Universität. The topic of sustainability anchors the School of Business and Economics more firmly in this research cluster at Philipps University.
