Studying Economics

Why the M.Sc. Economics, Institutions, and Behavior?
This program systematically considers the economic analysis of institutions.
Why this focus?
Institutions shape economic contexts worldwide. Understanding and developing institutions is a key skill in addressing many challenges, whether at the individual, organizational, or societal level.
Nobel prize winner Douglass North (1991) observes: ‘Throughout history, institutions have been devised by human beings to create order and reduce uncertainty in exchange.’ North assigns institutions a crucial role in the economy: ‘Institutions provide the incentive structure of an economy; as that structure evolves, it shapes the direction of economic change towards growth, stagnation, or decline.’
This program provides specialized education in institutional economics and rigorous training in all major fields of economics, employing modern theoretical and empirical methods.
