Project 10: Expectations and expectation violation in the communication about death and dying

Dr. Pia von Blanckenburg (Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy)

PhD Student: Sophie Kievernagel

This sub-project will investigate the extent to which expectations can promote or prevent communication at and about the end of life. It will focus on which specific expectations are associated with the initiation of a conversation about the end of life (e.g. network analysis). In this funding period, various moderators (e.g. relationship aspects, death anxiety) and immunisation processes will continue to be investigated in greater depth. In particular, chronically ill persons (e.g. COPD, cancer, Parkinson's disease) and their relatives will be considered and further interventions to change expectations will be developed.
