Project 2: Expectation violation in sensorimotor control

Prof. Dr. Dominik Endres (Theoretical Cognitive Science)

PhD Student: Ruslan Spartakov

This project investigates how humans adapt their motor control in response to expected and unexpected perturbations of the environment in order to reach their action goals. In particular, the project aims at uncovering the cost functions whose minimization describes the adaptation process. Formalizing adaptation as cost function minimization allows for the transfer and comparison of this project’s results to agents with non-human bodies (animals, robots). Machine Learning and Virtual Reality are relevant methods of this project.
