Course Registration and current Courses at the Department of Psychology

For the winter semester 2024/2025, the course registration will be from directly after the information event on ***19th of September until 23th of September 1pm***.
To register for any lecture, seminar or tutorial at the Department of Psychology in the winter semester, incoming exchange students have to use the registration form.
Direct registration in Marvin is currently not possible for exchange students. Only if we receive the form by the deadline, you can be treated preferentially during the allocation of seminar and tutorial places. Afterwards, you can only attend courses that still have vacancies.

The course registration dates and procedures for courses taught at other departments vary. Please check the department's websites, contact the department's exchange coordinator or the lecturer of the courses you are interested in and ask them if and how you can join their course.

Courses taught in English at the Psychology Department

Please note that the department of psychology is currently in the process of changing its Bachelor degree program. For example, if you check the course catalogue in Marvin, there are several Bachelor Psychology degrees listed. You as an exchange student are able to choose courses from all available degree programs.

If you checked the course catalogue during the preceding semester, please be aware that some courses will not be offered in the next semester. Instead, they will be replaced with other courses due to the change in the Bachelor Psychology degree program as well as to regular alternations between winter and summer semesters.

Please note that we can only offer a limited number of courses taught in English. As such, if you have no or only a limited knowledge of German, you will also have to participate in courses that are offered at other departments in order to receive the full amount of 30 ECTS.

Winter Semester 2024/25:

The lecture period of the winter semester begins on 14.10.2024 and ends on 14.02.2025. The exam period starts on the 17th of February and exams might take place during the following 2-3 weeks after the end of lectures. The summer semester ends officially on the 31st of March 2024.

Courses starting with a "B-" are part of the Bachelor's degree, whilst courses starting with "M-" are part of the Master's degree. You may attend all of these courses, but this helps to estimate the level of difficulty, and you will need the lecturer's permission if you attend a course outside your own degree.

**Please note that some more information or courses may be added in the next few days.**

Other courses, departments and semesters

Exchange students may attend courses of the psychology modules listed under the following two links, if they are offered in a given semester. On these pages you can also find more details on the available modules (responsible, semester, duration, common language of instruction, recommended prior knowledge and detailed descriptions of the module contents):

You might also want to have a look which other courses are offered at the university. As an international exchange student, you have the possibility to choose modules that are not part of the Psychology degrees as long as the responsible lecturer (and the international coordinator of your home university) agrees.

Detailed instructions how to search for courses in upcoming and previous semesters can be found in Section 5.3 of the Study Guide. (The Psychology course catalogue for the upcoming summer semester will be provided online late in March and for the upcoming winter semester late in August.)
