30.09.2026 What happens after the life cycle of a battery (Field trip to Duesenfeld)
On 30 September, the AG Roling group visited our former college friend, Christoph König, at his new workplace, Duesenfeld, in Wendeburg. The company is a pioneer in ecofriendly recycling of lithium-ion batteries. First, we learned a lot about the Duesenfeld recycling process, which focuses on low temperatures, CO2-avoidance and achieving the highest possible recycling efficiency, as well as their patented discharge technology. They are particularly proud of their material recovery rates, which exceed 98 % and thus is higher than the requirements of the EU Battery Regulation. Afterwards, we had the opportunity to walk through the facility and observe almost the entire process, from safe battery discharge and disassembly to crushing and mechanical separation.
We concluded the afternoon with pizza at Christoph's place, where we discussed the wonderful day we had had.
We really thank Christoph and the whole Dusenfeld team for this valuable opportunity.
